The International Sanicole Airshow took place at the end of September at the special airport in Hechtel-Eksel in Belgium. Our ATS team was on site with a Do228 in the Aircraft Display Area - the largest aircraft on display. Hechtel-Eksel Airport only has an extremely short runway of 600m, which means that larger aircraft cannot land there. Thanks to its impressive STOL (short take-off and landing) capabilities, the Do228 was able to land on site and only needed about 300 meters to do so.
The interest in our aircraft was therefore great and there were many interesting conversations with the visitors. For demonstration purposes, a wide range of equipment was installed in the Do228 to show the various areas in which our Do228 can be used. For example, a mission console, passenger seats and stretchers for MedEvac missions. The Do228 was also extremely popular as a photo motif. A total of around 55,000 visitors were on site on Saturday and Sunday.
Another highlight of the Sanicole Airshow were the numerous show flights over the site. On Saturday evening, there was also a large fireworks display to enjoy.
Thank you for your visit!
